i do not claim to know these people
So seeing that the state of AZ is under a state of emergency due to huge buckets of rain and snow (not to mention some tornado warnings) being thrown onto us, I've come to realize today....I'm unprepared. How convenient you might think that my VT lesson today was on self-reliance. But no, I'm not talking about 72 hr. kits and a year's worth of potato flakes and spam-I'm talking about my wardrobe. My staple has always been t-shirt, jeans and flip flops. I hate real shoes. My toes suffocate. So when it's cold(in Phx terms) and rainy, I'm at a loss. I feel weird wearing tennis shoes unless I'm running. And my boots are in no way the practical kind. And I don't even own a jacket with a hood that covers my head. Seriously, hoods are a joke. So really, it's my fault. But why spend money on these things when they are used so seldom here?? That's why I never buy proper clothing for cold weather but then regret my choice later. For example, in December, on my last day of finals at school. It was freezing and rainy, but not when I left the house. So I wore flip flops. I had to park something like 5 miles away from my classroom (ok, maybe exaggeration) and go take my test. When the test was over, it was POURING. I mean cats and dogs like. I tried to wait it out, but it just wasn't ending. I finally sucked it up and started the long trek to my car. By the time I found it, My jeans were soaking up to my knees and my freezing wet feet were hating me. And today, as I ran a few errands out in the rain, I thought about my shoe choice-flats really weren't meant for puddles. Or maybe when I went to UT last December and wore peep toe high heels to the temple in the snow. I just don't know how to function in that sort of weather. My kids are at least one step ahead of me, both owning 4 dollar pairs of rain boots. We even scored a 5 dollar rain jacket at Savers today for Tuck (which he probably won't even use after this week). So maybe one of these days, if I find nice jackets, practical boots and maybe even an umbrella (on some sort of clearance that is) I just might be prepared for weather other than sunny and warm.

There's an umbrella in the trunk of my car! Use it, you silly girl.
I'd be glad to take you to savers and find a jacket for yourself! Maybe even some sweet new kicks! ha ha
I know what you mean, I just got proper shoes this year and they seem like overkill :)
I think this might be the story of just about any native AZ girl!! haha!! I had Canada to help me out of those wardrobe issues!! Luckily it's only a few days out of the year that you have wet feet and pants!!
I'm right there with you. Hate myself during the 2 or 3 weeks of "winter", but then when it finally goes on clearance, I'm like... I don't even need that!
Todd laughs at me when I put on [what I consider to be] "warm clothes" or "winter clothes". I mean, what is a rain jacket anyway?
wow, i guess i have a lot to say about this...
