batter up

There aren't many things cuter to me than my son playing his first game of baseball. Maybe it was the oversize jersey and hat, (although he was unsure about wearing his sister's socks). Or his excitement of his very own professional bag to carry his new bat, ball and cleats. Or quite possibly the fact that after his first hit, he stood right there on home base, unsure of what to do next-and after a 15 second delay, finally realizing all of the screaming "run to first base!" was meaning... just that. Another one of my favorites-after fielding a grounder right next to the pitcher's mound, he paused holding the ball, unsure of where it's future destination should be. Instead of throwing it to 1st base, he chucked it in between 3rd base and home to absolutely nobody. He just wanted to rid himself of such responsibility. It was just as a baseball game with a 5 year old boy should be and I don't think I could have been more proud.

That's adorable-I love watching little kids play sports. Being a mom rocks!

You got such great photos! I'm so glad we were there to witness the magic of the boy's first baseball game. He's gotten lots of pointers from his Cousin Jake, so maybe we'll start to see some strategy coming together with his obvious skills!
