Tuck E. Toes
Oh Tucker-
Where to even start. 5 years ago today I was at the hospital soaring through labor. Thanks to modern medicine and my blessed son, "labor" was pain free and happy. And thanks to my smarts, I only suffered 4 months of pregnancy. Ya know, cause I wasn't sure why I was gaining weight-and people failed to tell me I was obviously pregnant, cause they thought I knew. I'm always the last to know.
Tuck went through a lot his first year of life. More changes than I would've wished for him. Yet he was strong, and happy and perfect. He was my peace in the middle of a giant storm. I wish I was more present in his first year, and less in the fog I was actually in. But I belive Tucker knew exactly what he was being born into, and chose to be my son for a reaon.
He knew I needed a good baby with a mild temperment so I could trudge through that first year. So he was.
He knew I needed a boy that clung to his mother just as much as I clung to him. So he did.
He knew I needed to see him stable, strong and happy. So he is.
He also knew I needed a snuggle buddy, even 5 years later. So he does. I kept Tucker in a crib in my room until he was 18 months. Not because we didn't have the room to move him. But because I needed him there. And he knew it, just as he knows it now. Like clockwork, everynight a little boy sneaks into my room and ever so quietly slips into my bed next to me. By morning, he has already snuck out so as not to disturb me. Most of the time, I never hear him come in or go out. But during the night, in the midst of my stirring, I'll feel his presence next to me. And as much as I can pretend I need to break him of this habit, I secretly love it. And he does too. Only not so secretly.
Tuck facts
-He loves anything boy such as cars, trucks, action figures, guns, bikes, scooters, balls, sports, and making any sort of noise with his mouth
-He loves his sister. And loves to tattle-tell on her more
-He LOVES to sing. Even more than Grace. And that's a lot
-He loves to dance. But only the "cool" dancing.
-He just quit sucking his thumb. Now we have to work on his teeth and his lisp. Yup, that's all thanks to me
-He has a blanket he sleeps with that is completly torn apart. I mean, it's on its last leg
Happy 5th birthday buddy.

Bonnie, I know this was posted a long time ago, but I just watched it for the first time. I LOVED your post...insightful comments from a very loving mother! And on this Mother's Day, it helped me know again what a great mother you are! And it helped me to learn a little history on Tucker...what an adorable little boy! I am so thankful you are and will be the mother of our grandchildren!
