today

Why 9/11 is still a good day--it's my dad's birthday. He's pretty much the best dad I could ask for. He's patient and kind and wrestles with my kids. As I write this, he's on his way to Cali w/my sister to do a 100 mile bike ride. Amazing huh? Happy Birthday dad!

When Les and I were in NY, we visited Ground Zero and went to this amazing WTC visitors center. I had never felt connected to 9/11 since I lived on the other side of the country, but after being here, we were both incredibly overcome with emotion. I can't even describe what I felt, but after being in the city after visiting here, I could only imagine that day and the tragedy that occured.

Wow, that short, little letter from a child in Iran is very moving. I think sometimes Americans get so biased and don't see the innocence and heartbrake in others that are judged from the actions of their fellow countymen. I'm glad that's on display; its very touching!

You are blessed indeed to have such a remarkable dad, and it's a comfort to have something (and someone) great to celebrate on 9/11
