nyc 1

so this post is a little late, but let's be honest-updating my blog is not the highest priority for me now ;) before school started in august, my best friend leslie and i went to visit our girlfriend rachel in new york. she lives on staten island and les and i had never been to ny before. the first day, leslie and i took the ferry into the city and went to the statue of liberty (not worth the money if you can't go to the top btw), ellis island (made up for our lady liberty letdown), ground zero, and walked around a ton just exploring. rachel couldn't come in the city with us, so we navigated our way around. the humidity was so awful, i thought i was going to melt first off. second, after the statue of liberty and ellis island, we were starving so we stopped off in this little underground pizza place. soon we noticed we were the only non-jewish ones in the joint and realized it was a kosher restaurant. the food was delish, but we felt a little out of place. (it was a good joke though- two mormons walk into a kosher restaurant...) we made our way past wall street, trinity church and to the 9/11 visitors center. that was awesome and so moving. it was incredible to be there and imagine the impact the city felt. here's a few pictures from the day...

so maybe we did get scammed, don't ask how much we had to pay this guy for a few dumb pictures. we had a good laugh over it

Yay! The NY post. I love that picture of Leslie with Mr. Liberty. Haha. I can't wait to hear more about it!

Hi! My husband and I are getting ready to go to NYC in a few weeks (10/30-11/3) and I just saw your post so I thought I'd send a question if you don't mind. We are also staying on Staten Island for a couple of days and so I was wondering what type of transportation did you use to get from SI to the city, etc. We are the most confused on what to do from the airport (Laguardia) to SI so if you have any major opinion please let me know.

Your trip looked like you had lots of fun and it really gets me excited. I've been there before (3x's), but my husband has never been and so to experience it all with him will be so much fun!

Thanks for any and all help!~Stacey
