sunday, sunday

so i had to do church alone today with my 2 kiddos, which sometimes i don't know why i even go to sacrament. for the 2nd time in a row, the only seats available were the very front hard chairs, ya know, where there's tons of space in front of you. tons of space for little kids to run and make a scene right? yeesh. anyway, so they were pretty good i must say. they lasted about a half hour until tucker started doing a jig on the gym floor and walking up the aisles with a box of pretzels in his hand. after that, thankfully they're both in nursery and doing fine, so i dropped them off and headed to my new calling. i'm the new CTR 5 teacher and actually team teach, but my other was gone today, so i was a little nervous. i had about 6 kids, only 2 of which were girls. junior primary went fine, and we settled in our classroom ok besides that i lost a little boy on the walk there. i had to run back out to find him standing in the hall looking for us. so i didn't think the lesson would be too bad until i was about 3/4ths finished and realized how much time i really had left. those classes are about 40 minutes and with 5 years, it can seem like 2 hours with their attention span. mine too! so thankfully i had brought some bribery-cookies. and i also brought a picture to color. so with several breaks of eating and coloring, we made it through. a downside on my day, i was asked twice by the same boy if i was going to have a baby. hopefully this is due to the fact that his mom is about to have a baby so he has baby on the brain. i'm praying it's not due to the fact that i look pregnant. otherwise, this boy will definently not be my favorite. it seems like a pretty good class though, although i know there will be more since it's summer and some are on vacation. i'm just worried about filling up time now and making it exciting. speaking of, i'll write more later when i have more writable things...

This calling will only add to your great stories for the blog, congrats!

Awesome job with your two kids alone. We have a single mom in our ward with two girls. One is 3 and the other almost 2, and they walk around sacrament the whole time, it's kind of the norm anctually. If they come sit by you, you make room, if they offer you their snack, PRETEND TO EAT IT ONLY! Etc. So it's great you can manage yours.

I just got released from that same calling. It is really tough! You're right, the attention span is short. I usually started the lesson off with a walk around the outside of church, followed by a drink of water. My actual lesson would actually only be about 15 minutes and they I would have them color. It was the only way we made it through!

tucker was nicely sharing his pretzels with the elderly gentleman behind us. he was gracious enough to eat them, which pleased tucker very much.

taytum (old roomie:)
that's a good idea. i need something to break up the lesson-it's so long!

It is all about the bribery cookies. That boy must have just had baby on the brain (I hear that is pretty serious stuff)- there is no way you look pregnant. I feel sorry for any of the larger ladies/men that he may have asked that question.
